    Investment Philosophy

    Conviction. Structure. Patience.

Splitbox is built to hold capital for decades, not quarters. The investment philosophy that shapes every position and every article in the Journal comes down to a small number of ideas.

    Structure before returns.

Splitbox is founded by a lawyer. Contracts, ownership, and enforceability come first. Returns are an output of structure, not an input. Every position is documented to survive the next cycle before it is sized to compound.

    Underwrite the downside.

Every deal begins with the question: what does the loss look like? Splitbox will not take a position it cannot afford to be wrong on. The upside takes care of itself when the downside is priced honestly.

    Back operators, not narratives.

The firm invests behind operators with clarity, competence, and integrity. Sector momentum is not a substitute for operating judgment.

    Hold through cycles.

Splitbox is a multi-decade holding company, not a fund with a fixed life. Time in the market is the primary source of return in the assets and geographies we operate in.

    Cross-border by design.

Nigeria and South Africa are held simultaneously. Each jurisdiction is underwritten on its own merits, with legal structure matched to the market, and with capital only deployed where the operating team has earned the right to hold it.
