Capital does not move as fast as a mobile application refreshes.

Investors committed N1.476 trillion to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO in the first hour of trading. This velocity is not a triumph of market depth. It is a brutal stress test for the domestic financial stack. We are seeing the limit of how much capital can be reallocated before the rest of the market starves.

The retail platform Bamboo crashed under the volume. This failure exposes the gap between digital frontends and legacy exchange infrastructure. Sophisticated allocators must view this as a warning. Sovereign tech debt stops capital mobility when volatility spikes.

The offer involves 4.1 billion shares. By concentrating this much volume in one asset, the market creates a liquidity enclosure. Liquidity for mid-cap stocks will evaporate to fund this entry. The main index will show a ghost rally while the actual breadth of the exchange weakens.

This listing is a hostile takeover of state opacity. It forces a massive industrial asset into public disclosure requirements. The trade-off is clear. Investors must decide if an industrial moat justifies the concentration risk of a single dominant ticker.

Watch the settlement velocity. The health of the exchange is not measured by first-hour hype. It is measured by the ability to finalize trades without draining the economy of capital.
