Price is a signal. The jump in Sterling Financial Holdings from N7.70 to N77.00 is a 1-for-10 reconstruction. Market capitalization is unchanged at N527.5 billion. This is not a rally. It is a deliberate exit from the penny stock bracket.
Situation Sterling reduced its outstanding shares by 90% to 6.85 billion. This consolidation precedes a 400 million dollar capital raise. The bank is cleaning the house before the guests arrive.
What we know The business is growing. H1 profits rose 20.4%. The reconstruction targets two frictions. First, it meets the price floors required by institutional mandates.
